the fabulous agent said it was okay to
share the good news.

last thursday, i accepted a three book offer
from greenwillow, an imprint of harpercollins.
my editor was so enthusiastic and wonderful
from the start. the book went to auction, but
in the end, i felt she would be the best fit
for me and my books.

the offer is for spirit bound, its sequel, as well
as a childrens picture book. she had googled me
and found my blog, saw my brush work and a random
post i had made the previous day about my dream
to do a picture book with my own art one day. and
she put that in the offer!

to say i'm amazed and astounded is an
understatement! don't let anyone tell you that
having a blog under your writing name
isn't worth doing!!

thank you to everyone in this forum who
has offered advice and encouragement. i still
remember our nanowrimo thread in 2006 when
i wrote 35k in words of spirit bound.

you guys are awesome!

and altho i'll be on the YA shelves when the
book comes out, i'll always be a fantasy writer
foremost at heart. *hugs*

Take a day or two to just enjoy that feeling, is what I say.   Open a bottle of something and watch a couple good movies, for example.  Or brag to all of your friends and family.  I'd probably do that first. smilewinkgrin

Xiaotien!

YEAH!

How great it this? IMO you are such a great example for us other writers on the board. We've known you from the first. You walked us through everything every step of the way.

This is exactly how you become a success as a writer, just exactly the way SFReader's own X became the next Stephanie Meyer. I couldn't be happier.

You put your bottom in a seat until you had a commerically viable product finished. Write edit write edit.

You shopped it around to an agent over and over again, each rejection encouraging you to send out more copies to more agents. You didn't decide to go other routes or get discouraged. You took the lumps and steamrolled along.

You got an agent.

Now you're a superstar!

You're my hero.

Congrats.

nathan, thank you for your kind words!

i think we all work hard to live our writing dreams.

never lose the passion! rejection is a giving.
as long as you still believe in your story and
love to write, keep going!!

Woot! jumpin Very nice going, Cindy! That sure seemed quick; guess you've really got one enticing novel there.

Who would have thought the lady who started a discussion topic on words that elicit dirty thoughts would go on to become a successful YA author? devil

Very happy to hear this. Guess it means that I'll get to read your book all the sooner.
