Just in case anybody missed the official announcement:

With the arrival of Black Gate 11, it's time to clear some space out of the New Epoch Press warehouse. And that means it's time for our very first Back Issue Sale.

For a very limited time, any four back issues are the same price as a new subscription: $29.95, plus shipping and handling. And any eight are just $55! That includes our second and third issues, normally $12.95, and even our rare first issue, priced at $15.95! You can own our first four issues a $51.80 value for just $29.95! But hurry. Quantities of certain issues are very limited, and when they're gone, they're gone for good.

Check it out at www.blackgate.com.

Actually, even at full price, they're a great value. I'm betting you get a lot of takers.

Hey Howard - Man am I late at finding this! How do you have time beyond editing? Anyway, how's this sale going?

>Anyway, how's this sale going?

As of today, we've mailed off roughly 1300 back issues of Black Gate since the sale began.

OK, that's a little misleading.  We overprinted BG11 by over 800 issues to send to the World Fantasy Convention next weekend, and they went out on Thursday.  Still, we've sold several hundred back issues, which is quite surprising.

A few enterprising souls have asked for 3-year subscriptions starting with #1, which not only gets them all 11 back issues with free shipping for $78.50, but also gets them issue 12.  That's bending the rules on the sale a bit, but we'll honor it while stocks hold out.

We haven't sold out of any issues yet, but we're getting close with issues 3 and 7, and stocks of several others are depleted.

If you're interested in getting any of the earlier issues, you should probably act fast.  Details of the sale are at www.blackgate.com.

Thanks Jason!

Kindly let us know what you think of the issues when you receive them.  Sales are what keep us in business... but it's feedback that makes us better!

OH, never fear, I certainly will announce to the world (population 20 or so) on the blog what I think of them.  Just don't hold your breath - my personal reading has pretty much disappeared (I bought these in preparation for my retirement in 2017), and my reviewing reading is backing up so bad I might have to cancel sleep for the rest of the year to get to them.  But I do so look forward to reading my Black Gates.

DUDES!! (one exclamation point for the both of yous![that one was for me])

I got my box of back issue goodness today! Holy mother mary joseph almighty father amen!

These are some stunning, absolutely stunning, pieces of art! I was a kid in a candy store, holding these up, hugging them, smiling big, giggling, devouring their beauty and stature with eyes that never knew they were starved prior to laying sight upon such bounty!

Hands down, simply the BEST spec fic mag I've ever seen let alone touched. Now, assuming the contents are as good as everyone's been saying for years, there ain't nobody who calls himself a fan of spec fic that can't afford to subscribe to your find magazine. If the words inside match the pre-purchase praise and the gorgeous exteriors (especially of Vol 1 Iss 1 & Vol 1, Iss 5), Christmas is gonna last as long as it takes me to read all of these!

(and, yeah, I said 'Christmas' Nathan and Steve smilewinkgrin )

Picked up 4 more issues of BG today at Printer's Row in Chicago. I think I now only need 2 of the old issues to complete the set.

Thanks Jason!

Sorry I couldn't attend Printer's Row. My wife was talking about it today. But I just got back from a long business trip in Orlando, and I have a ton of e-mail to catch up on (not to mention I need to spend a little time with the kids). :)

Be sure to let us know what you think of the issues!

Did you see the review of THE RETURN OF THE SWORD at the BG website last week?

Yes, and my thanks, John! Ryan did a fine job of it - I was glad to claim him as a friend in Facebook and LibraryThing after that! ;-)

Emails, blech! skull They are a bane and a pain sometimes. I'm so tired of sitting in this chair, I've had the hardest time getting things done this week. Printer's Row was pretty much just a giant book sale, though I would think it might be fun to sit a FSP/BG booth together, eh?

Are you available next Saturday, 6/14, for Authorfest in Schaumburg, IL?

Wow, I didn't even know about it.  How are you so in-the-know on all these book events in my back yard?  :)

Next weekend is a mess, but Schaumburg isn't that far away.  Tell me more!
