This is one I did just for fun, which is a bit different than the majority of the poems I have written lately. I have always had an interest in unknown animals and the unexplained, so I thought I would come up with something in honour of Bigfoot, Yeti, and the other "hairy hominids" seen around the world. Thus, a "cryptoku", meaning a speculative (or maybe not so speculative) haiku with a cryptozoological theme.  (And, no, I'm not really serious about calling it a "cryptoku".)

Seeing 'crypto' makes me want to see a code hidden in there somewhere.
Very interesting. This whole bigfoot thing seems to be quite . . . public . . . lately.

I have more than a passing interest in Bigfoot, and I don't have the luxury of ignoring it because my wife actually saw one. And I had some experiences of my own that hinted at the existence of a Bigfoot right in our former neighbourhood. (You apparently don't have to go in the middle of nowhere to have an encounter as long as there are woods nearby.)

I believe that if more scientists opened their eyes and actually looked at the evidence already gathered, they would at least acknowledge the need for further investigation into the phenomena.

By what flame of life
was the manlike moth compelled
to land among us?

I dug the meaning of "cyptoku" immediately.

Ha ha! Mothman! One of the weirdest things in the annals of the unexplained.

Love that one. Cool.
