This was an attempt to move away from the 5-7-5 pattern of haiku or speculative haiku. I'm not sure it has enough of a "turn" to be a strong spec. haiku, but I still think it's a neat little poem.
With spring planting on the way, the first line seemed very appropriate for the season. It could almost be a poem about spring planting, until you get to the second line, that is. "I'm going to do what the warriors of old did. I'm going to recite poetry!"
