What impressed you most about it?

The language and the whole way the magic is used. It is an integrated whole where you think this must have been real somewhere or at least a real fairy tale that some nation has been telling since forever.

Well nothing other than it is a fantasy that I read right after reading "The Return of the Swords". As I was finishing up the review of "The Return of the Swords", I looked at the White Isle book next to me and thought, "..the people on this forum would love this book", so I popped a thread out here to share that.

Dan, you do know that SFReader has a ton of other forums, right? Fantasy Book forum, a 'Right Now I'm Reading' forum, etc. I don't recall you ever posting outside the FS forum -- check the rest of the place out if you haven't already, you'll like it!

Thanks, I do go to the Black Gate forum and the Sword and Sorcery one but I have not really checked out the others. I will troll through a couple of them soon.

I might suggest you write up a nice review of White Isle and maybe send it to Uncle Pete for the reviews section of SFReader.com (since this is, after all, a reviews site).
