I ask because I have a loathing of material pasted into emails and never want to see a submission like that myself because it's more work for the editor, and the formatting always gets screwed up. Email pasting wrecks margins and spacing, and often screws around with fonts and punctuation as well. Not a big deal with flash fiction, but I hate to see what kind of Frankenstein's monster the 7k story I'll be sending your way next month will turn out to be. Although I suppose there is a slight change it will be improved 
Any chance you guys can be persuaded to take rtfs? |
| Posted By : crystalwizard - 10/24/2007 5:51 PM | no, it's not. If I don't know you, I don't know what is in your attachment. A word doc can have malicious macros. Other attachments can contain malicious code as well. For that matter, I can create a piece of ascii art and embed code in it that will cause your machine all sorts of problems and never be found by a virus scanner.
If I know you, it's not a problem. That rule is one that I'll enforce selectively.
You, Bill, aren't someone I'm worried about sending me malicious attachments :) You're welcome to send your subs in as .doc attachments if you wish. So are the other people on this forum that I talk to regularly .
John Doe from outer-who-knows-where with an email address of mylittlegrintch@e-mail.net is someone I don't know and am going to be cautious about.

Once I get the initial submission, as the rules state, if we accept it I'm going to be asking for a .doc file or a .rtf, with all the formatting, italics and other fancy stuff in place. For the initial, I want to see plot more than formatting anyway. |
