I am not a romance novel fan, so imagine my surprise when several of the readers of my magickal urban fantasy novels (The Witchery Series) told me they also read paranormal romance novels.  Eek!  I told them how I have a very hard time with all the cliches in romance novels and usually end up throwing books in that genre across the room.  But they assured me the new wave of paranormal romance novels aren't like that.  They feature snappy chicklit dialogue, good plots, laugh-out-loud humor, urban fantasy characters (vamps, Weres, demons, supes of all kinds), and very few (if any) classic romance novel cliches.  So they suggested one or two authors and series to me, and guess what?  I liked them!

Katie MacAlister is one, and I am about to finish her Aisling Grey, Guardian series.  Next I plan to start her vamp series.

Anyone else out there reading paranormal romance novels that aren't full of classic romance novel cliches?  Which authors and series are your favorites?  Let me know, and I will add them to my TBR list to check out.  Thanks!

I've read some of her books. I think they are just a bit too silly for me overall but kind of fun.

Since I posted this thread I have finished Katie MacAlister's Aisling Grey, Guardian series (dragons) and her vamp series (The Dark Ones).  Both excellent.

I've started another paranormal romance series, which is immensely popular, called The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward.  Now I can see why everyone raves about it...it is awesome!!  yeah
