From its founding through to the modern era, Horne uses wit and dry humor to highlight many of the interesting facets of Parisian history. I wish I had read this book before my visit.
There is a wealth of information contained for those doing their own "world building" exercises for their writing. Horne clearly illustrates how the city grew in seven major phases and why, what the population was doing at the time and how the leadership was maintained (or toppled in several cases). |

The French Revolution fascinates me, and Robespierre was one of the most interesting personalities in the Revolution....
