Bards and Sages is still accepting submissions for a collection of poetry chapbooks to be released later this year. Previously published work is welcome, but authors should make sure to include bibliographical information and also make sure they have retained the copyright to the work before submitting. Payment is $3 per poem, upon acceptance. If your poem is accepted you are granting us a non-exclusive, perpetual right to use the poem in the publication.
A Quill Full of Shadows: We are looking for serious, thought provoking poetry involving the dark, mysterious, and macabre. Make me afraid to open the closet or look under the bed.
What we DON'T WANT: First person "oooo, I'm a serial killer" nonsense, cutter and emo poetry, laundry lists of evil acts with no context, torture porn, vampire love stories.
A Quill Full of Dragon's Blood: We are looking for poetry that takes the reader on a mystical journey. Think about the old bardic traditions and odes to forgotten heroes.
What we DON'T WANT: Fluff-n-bunnies unicorn nonsense, elf love stories, "dream sequences" where the poet fantasizes about being a fairy/elf/unicorn/gnome/etc etc etc
A Quill Full of Stardust: We are looking for poetry that captures the essence of futuristic literature in the poetic form. Take the reader on a journey into the future and explore a world of "what-ifs"
What we DON'T WANT: Star Wars fan poetry (yes, we've gotten a lot of this!)
When submitting, please include the title of the appropriate chapbook in the subject line to avoid our
spam filters from sending you into e-mail limbo. Submissions should be send in the body of the e-mail to
