The Speculative Literature Foundation offers a $750 grant to "older writers" (ie, 50 years of age or older) who are just starting to work at the professional level. This year, the deadline for applications is March 31. For more info, check out:

Cheers!

Since this grant sounded like it was written for me, I've applied. Wish me luck. Anyone else?

I'd apply, but the 'just starting to work at the professional level' leaves me out.

I hope you get it, Jim.

Does anyone know how many people tend to apply for this?

Posted By : Jim Stratton - 5/30/2008 9:00 AM

And the winner is. . .

Not me.  I got the notice today from  Malon Edwards.  The committee specifically liked the story I sent as my sample, and invited me to apply again next year.  But the grant is going to Deborah Roggie.  I don't know her, but see she has some impressive credentials when I ran her on Google.  Oh well, next year.
