Hello to everyone! My name is (obviously) Ramon Rozas III, and I thought I should introduce myself here since I have been lurking on this board for approx 6 mos (came here originally from a mention at EDF's forum)(where I also lurk). As you can tell, I'm not a big poster, but I love reading comments! I am also a refugee from the Rumor Mill.
I hope to learn tips here (and already have, actually) to help me get better at writing - both *writing* and *selling* the writing. I've appeared in EDF (which is a wonderful venue, BTW), Carnifex Press' Clash of Steel 2: Assassins, Aoife's Kiss and Leading Edge Magazine. As is common, I have a SF novel I am trying to get someone interested in. Finally, I'm web illiterate, so please don't hold my posting errors against me!
So, hello, and I look forward to more interesting discussions! |

Hello, Ramon!
It sounds like you've actually made a pretty good start in selling your stories. If you haven't already, check out Duotrope's Digest and Ralan's Webstravaganza, both useful market listings:
http://duotrope.com/
http://ralan.com/
As you may already know, and has been said repeatedly here, the best advice regarding writing is to keep writing. Write as often and as much as you can. Keep churning out stories, and then submit those stories. Constantly work at honing your craft.

He's modest, but his story " Security Question" is the second most read story of all time at EDF with over 19,000 reads, and 39 comments.
To give you an idea of how many people have linked to it, that ONE page has a Google PageRank of 5. As a means of comparison, SFReader's main page has a PageRank of 3 (the scale is exponential, and higher is better).
Sorry if I embarrassed you, Ramon

Jordan, thanks for the boost. I was very happy with the reception "Security Question" got; I just wish I could take full credit for promoting it! I appreciate EDF having the faith to print something at the very edge of what you usually take (I think SQ is 999 words and EDF's limit is 1K). |

| Posted By : ScrewMoonshine - 4/3/2008 12:38 PM | Welcome aboard, Ramon! "Three Rules to Live By" was certainly a fun quickie story. It's been several months since I read it, but just taking a look at the table of contents for Assassins instantly reminded me of which one it was.

Thank you for remembering "Three Rules" - it was my first publication credit ever! I still remember how I felt the day I got Armand's email. |

| Posted By : von Darkmoor - 4/7/2008 6:38 PM | Hey, welcome Ramon, nice to have ye. You know, I've been wondering why I knew your name ever since reading "Security Question" - thanks for putting that question to rest - I read CoS: Assassins back in June of 2006 and listed your story as one of the enjoyable reads in the antho. The story stuck with me, just your name escaped. Glad to see you're still writing and finding acceptance.
