I can't seem to get my microsoft word to work. Here's a little bit of what happened.

My boyfriend got a beta version of MicrosoftWord 2007 that still hasn't been released. However, neither of us realized (at the time) that the beta versions expire..... so he deleted our old MW version. I was wondering if there was anything I could do, like re installing MXP or even if there was a download for MW 2006 I could find anywhere. Something affordable because I don't have very much money right now and I can't afford to buy a new CD-ROM for the program.

PLEASE HELP!

If you don't have the disk to do a re-install of your old version, you're pretty much out of luck.

You COULD get eDonkey or LimeWIre or some other peer to peer software (be leery however, as they often install with spyware) and try to find a pirated copy to download. I wouldn't recommend it though....

Wordpad, the dumbed down word processor that comes with teh OS, can open word documents. That could be one solution until you can scrape up enough to by another version of Word.

Lastly, you could try OpenOffice (www.openoffice.com), the open source office productivity pack by the same folks who made Linux. Supposed to be pretty good, but I've never used it.

Thanks for the advice Dave. I'll be sure to look into it and let you know when I have it fixed.

There is another option. Assuming the original software wasn't over written on the hard drive, you might be able to get software to retrieve it. Check Download.com for retrieval software. You might also have luck with something like "ashampoo" (also available for trial at download). I had formatted my wife's hard drive and then later ran ashampoo. Suddenly all those programs that were gone from the formating started showing up. Ashampoo had fixed all the directory listings for them.

Recommend buying Word Perfect instead of Microsoft Word, if it comes down to that. Word Perfect can open most MSWord documents and it is generally better. :)

Hmmm. I may actually do that. And my boyfriend got an email from a friend of his that gave him some advice on something he could do with his documents so that he could access them anywhere. I'll have to ask him but I'll be sure to post it on here in case it's useful to anyone here.

WordPerfect is often available on eBay for under $20.00. It is a complete and powerful program. Just watch the eBay listing because there is WordPerfect and WordPerfect Office.

Praise eBay and it's cheapness!!
