Hey, I'm RoberII, I'm a man. I was asked to introduce myself, so here goes:

I'm second-in-command, or pseudo-admin, over at http://fifthwind.forumup.org/index.php?mforum=fifthwind

It's a forum for fantasy writers with a focus on novels. We also run short story competitions known as duels in which we have fun and show off to each other. We also critique each other with great ferocity.

I've been a daily deviant over at deviantart.com, and I won second place in a competition there.

I like LeGuin.

And Frank Herbert.

I also like beer.

Welcome! Since you like competition, look for the quarterly writer's challenge at Flashing Swords, and the annual contest at SFReader. Enjoy the forums.

You can't just say you like beer without specifying a preference!  I prefer German or Austrian brews, myself.  :-)

I usually prefer a pilsner or a good belgian beer, but it depends on the situation. On long, cold, danish winter nights, the local Limfjord-porter is about as good as it gets :)

Beer! Did I hear beer? MmMmm

I like a porter or ale on the rare occassion I indulge. But those are autumn/winter preferences. During these steamy Southern summers I'll take a Corona with a slice of lime. Keep it light and cold.

Hum, I thought I heard a distant ringing of "beer." Woke me up from a nap. Now where do I go to drink it?

I'm not much of a beer drinker, though.

Welcome, RoberII.

I prefer dry wines to beer, myself. You're in a far better place for beer, though, than I am. The yeasts in most beers tend to give me reflux. Can't afford to lose sleep. Makes me grumpy.

Have you considered revamping fifthwind? Or is there a way to set my monitor to a friendlier screen setting? I live through my eyes, and the contrast over at your place kills my eyes rather quickly. I love the company of these folks. I really like the idea of engaging in fifthwind because I'm a novelist more than a short story writer and the latter seems more favored here. Which is cool. I'd spend more time in the Poetry forum here if there were more going on . . . And the Ask the Expert is great fun. As well as Anything Goes. I especially recomend Ask the Expert if you have any questions about almost anything. We're fascinatingly eclectic here.
