Currently reading Dean Koontz's ODD THOMAS.  I'm falling in love with his writing all over again.  Dean writes with such talent.  He earns millions and makes the rest of us look like we haven't got a clue. lol

Thirdy, don't tell me that! I dropped Koontz a dozen years ago because I thought he was becoming too predictable. Now you're making me want to go out and hunt up something new of his.

Darkbow, that's the same reason I dropped Koontz too. But his recent books have been really good, IMO. Odd Thomas is turning out to be quite a treat.

I was sucked back into the Koontz vortex by the Frankenstein series, so I think you should start there.

I'm reading the Drizzt novels by Salvatore, and Wind Follower by Carole McDonald. I'm sure you're all familiar with Drizzt; I'm a late comer to the series. Carole is another Sword and Soul author. She calls the book a romance, but it reads like a fantasy.

Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Wow.

And Captain Alatriste by Arturo Perez-Reverte. Fun characterizations and setup, but I haven't gotten too far into the action yet.

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin was really a wonderful read for me. I've tried to find this story in other books but they have invariably failed to hit just the right notes. I highly recommend this book. I find the afterlife theme quite fascinating.

Besides being in the midst of yet another book for review, I just picked up Noah Lukeman's "8 Ways to Bring Fiction to Life" and thought I'd start it. It's short enough that I should be able to get it done quickly. I really would like to read his "The First Five Pages" but just haven't gotten around to picking it up yet.

I finished reading Bradbury's tale THE HOMECOMING last night. Only a master like Bradbury can make run-on sentences sound perfect.

I've put down THE WALKING (for a short while) because I received a copy of Moore's V FOR VENDETTA. I enjoyed the movie so much, and I want to find out if it stayed true to the graphic novel.

Thirdy, you're dead on about Bradbury. Few writers can come close to his accomplishments.

If you like the V for Vendetta movie, you will probably like the book. There are differences, mostly thematic and a rearrangement of the story's structure, but it's basically the same story. The book also isn't as action-oriented as the movie, but that's to be expected I think.

Just coming to the end of Scalzi's "Old Man's War." Clearly an homage to "Starship Troopers," but a good read nonetheless.  Easy to understand why it got a nod for the HUGO award.

I've got "Stranger in a strange land" and "Ender's Game" in my TBR pile.

Now on The Never-Ending Story by Michael Ende, because I've never read it. After that I can't decide if it will be Song for the Basilisk by Patricia McKillip, or a reread of A Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny.

Currently engrossed in "The Clone Republic" by Steven L. Kent.

So far so good; this is book one of three.

The story flows fairly well, interesting characters and situations.

"Mad Eyes" by Kenneth Robeson, an old Doc Savage adventure. Not great but I'm intrigued by how Lester Dent kept the story moving.

Finished "The Red Stone" by Craig Smith for a review here at SFReader (should be up in the near future). A self-published POD project that, unfortunately, needed a lot more editing before hitting the market. But with POD, it's never too late...

Lyn, wasn't "The Red Stone" nominated for the Covey Awards one or two years ago?
