Not really a gripe, but a question. A friend of mine is in town for the next week or so, and I'd like to show her my contributor copy of the June Aoife's Kiss (it's a lot more complicated than that, but this is the simple version!). From past experience, can anyone say about when I should be seeing said contributor copy?

P.S. And does anyone know how I can politely suggest that she *buy her own friggin' copy*?

Is it too glib to say "you'll get it when they send it"?

I've noticed with some of the Sam's Dot publications that my work has been in that it might take at least a couple of weeks (if not more) from the time the publication is released until the time the contributor's copies arrive in the mail. I don't really note exactly how long it takes, but I know it can be a bit of a wait.

You can always check on the Sam's Dot message board to see if an announcement is made about contributor's copies being mailed. Or, if you're worried, post a message on the boards asking if they have been mailed yet.

As for persuading your friend to buy a copy, point out that it would be really neat to get her own copy of the magazine with your work in it to show to others and say "I know that writer". Try to turn her into a fan, subtlely of course.

Anything from Sam's dot will take a while...usually a long while...I remember my copy for their last contest came a month after it was published
