My first story acceptance...

It might be small, but it's important to me nevertheless.  My drabble "The Trouble with Unsolicited Messages" has been accepted for publication in the 11th issue of The Drabbler: SETI Calling.  This is actually my very first prose story accepted for publication.  I've had plenty of poetry and a couple of articles published, but no prose fiction as of yet.

It may only be 100 words, but I think it's a milestone just the same.

Way to go, Richard. Congratulations! So are you more elated to have your first, or more relieved to break the ice? Just curious.

Both.  I'm glad to finally get a prose piece out there, and hope this means I can get more prose out there in the future.  So I'm elated and relieved.

However, as with most things, this was balanced out by yet another rejection for my only longer prose story at the moment.  So I can't really get too excited.

It's just the beginning.

(I know, I know, I need to write more stories, but I've been busy writing poetry and drawing illustrations.)
