Richard, It is, in fact, inspired by that Saturday afternoon movie! The story's protagonist Eddie--a present-day sensitive, liberal guy--wakes up to find himself in the world of the movie as the macho '50s hero "Frank Hunter." Eddie, a member of PETA who would never hurt a fly, must adjust to the role of big-game-hunter tough guy to battle the monster menace.

Crawiling brains? Cool! That sounds like a Saturday afternoon movie. Well, back when they showed movies like that on a Saturday afternoon.

Congrats, Nicholas!

"Frank Hunter versus The Crawling Brains" has been sold to the online zine Membra Disjecta: Scattered Things. It's a promising new mag. The first issue is still up here: http://www.membradisjecta.com/ They have some wonderful content ranging from fiction, flash, and poetry to essays on topics like "The New Weird" and reviews of new ghost books available on the Web. The Spring issue, with my story, should be up by the end of the month.
