Happy to report that Spacewesterns.com has just accepted "The Hard Deal" for one of their July issues. This is my second story for them. I've written some far out stuff but this one can only be described this way: It's a space western psycho drama with flashbacks and giant flying insects. What more could you want?

Thanks a lot. I'm anxious to see what kind of illustration they come up with for this one.

Response time is very good-- maybe 4 to six weeks. Feedback is excellent. The editor Nathan Lilly is exceptionally helpful, and revisions are handled in a professional manner. My first sub was accepted as written. This one took several rewrites. Nathan won't accept a story until he's satisfied with it, and he had some good suggestions for improving the story. He knows his stuff.

Tarantino himself has been forward and unapologetic about his influences. In a 1994 interview with Empire magazine, he said, "I steal from every single movie ever made. If people don't like that, then tough tills, don't go and see it, all right? I steal from everything. Great artists steal, they don't do homages."

Good work.

Interesting market.

I have a half-finished weird western. Maybe I should dust it off and see if I can make it more scifi than weird...

Congrats!

I've done a couple of weird westerns...one a zombie tale, the other a marital revenge story (that WILL be published one of these days). But no space westerns.

Well, John, with you as my inspiration I just sent off a story to Space Westerns. It's actually a collaborative effort with a friend of mine, so our byline is a pseudonym. lol But if it gets accepted, I'll be sure to let you know which story to watch for. :-) BTW, thanks for the (unwitting) encouragement.
