Adventure Books of Seattle newest release represents what CAN be good about POD.

'The 13th Day of Christmas' is a novel about a first manned mission to the Red Planet. The book was researched through JPL and NASA. The character of 'Anna Johnson' is based partially on real-life astronaut Julie Payette from the Canadian Space Agency, who provided their full cooperation on the book. '13th Day' is illustrated with 28 hi-res images, mostly obtained from JPL and NASA.
Conflict and courage, survival and adventure, these are the driving forces in '13th Day.'

Rather than posting up a long explanation about this wonderful title, you can view the complete backstory at AB. Published in six-by-nine inch format, paperback and hardback with dust cover.  cool

Looks good, Robert. How long did it take you to research it?

I saw an article in Esquire Magazine in spring 2005, I think it was April. In part, the article said:

'There are no really good books about actually going to Mars.'

I began research the following week. Eventually, a representative at the Canadian Space Agency gave me permission to pattern the character of 'Anna Johnson' on real-life Canadian Chief Astronaut Julie Payette. The book itself took about a year to complete.

Ray Bradbury was one of my heroes. I got the ruler a few times from angry nuns, when I turned in sci-fi on them as 'essays.' (lol)  burger

Our media contact at the Canadian Space Agency asked for a hardback copy of '13th Day' for Julie Payette, and a couple of paperback versions for the John H. Chapman Space Centre Library system.
We complied. cool
