There are plenty of mags I haven't gotten a sniff of. The first mag I ever bought regularly was "Interzone". I'd still dearly love to get into that one. So far, so far!

If I had an editor who was buying my stuff, like "Black Gate" seems to be buying yours, I think I'd give them first shot at most of my writing and worry about cracking new markets later. Just me but repeated sales builds readership, at least with that markets readers. "Black Gate" is different enough from most of the older markets, I include "Interzone" in that, that their readers tend to be a little more possessive of the writers they find there, more inclined to look for new works and by-lines in other places.
Of course, not everything you write might be right for B-G, which would be the pieces I'd send out to other markets.
Just my 2cents worth.

Black Gate to me is the dream magazine to get into. That desire far exceeds my wanting to appear in F&SF, Analog, Asimov's, ROF. So 3 acceptances there is sometihng I would be positively glowing over!

I agree with you, Erazmus. Although my first story there didn't do too well on the reviews front!
davidolson22: I know what you mean -- I buy lots of mags, but BG is my only subscription. However, I hanker for Interzone and some day I'll get in there even if I have to take over the publishing company first...

Second, you make me so jealous. And the rest of you folk selling your short stories too. I haven't written a short in more than a year. Been slugging away on this never-ending trilogy.
