-  To continue (since I have some time now) These first two pieces have a real detraction for me, the geometric designs on the swords.  You've got him dressed in a rough, barbaric fashion and then--wham!--here's these swords that have a space-age look to them.  It just kills the iron-age mood.  Sorry. 
 
You might want to pull up "Myarmory.com" to get a variety of historical swords to get a look at the spine and fullers of actual weapons of the iron age.(You don't have to be a member to see the overviews or look at people's collections.)  I think that would remove a big distraction from the rest of your work.

Thanks for the comments Nick, Rob and Charles.  I thought the "Tower of the Elephant" came together well.  My style is developing each time I do a piece of art.  I hope the next one will continue with what I have done on that piece.

Celt, Norse, Roman, Saxon, they all have the wild, earthy flavor of ancient times and these are mostly copied after actual artifacts.  He also has fantasy SCA stuff (But that's pretty too)

No problem, Miko, 
I do the same thing in writing.  I like to get the feeling and impressions of guns, swords, knives, fabrics, animals, and equipment.  Have to hang around Ren fairs and re-enactors camps. 
 
I grew up with Conan illustrations.  From Frazetta first, but then scads of others, of course.  Despite what the publishers claimed, those great action covers with slashing monsters, fur-clad females, and bloody barbarians certainly did add to the experience of the stories.  They also sold a lot of books--at least to me tongue  .
