An artist from my hometown named Jason Felix has created some great covers for Star Wars novels. He does a good job of making characters look like they're posing in the middle of doing something--a natural pause in the action, so to speak. The rest of his stuff is deliciously creepy, but the Star Wars covers seem like they are something close to what you're looking for.

You can see samples here: http://www.jasonfelix.com/

If you look at my posting SF ART GRAPHIC, I worked with Kaolin Fire and he did some nice cover art for me.

you know if you want it to be large enough to hang on your wall in the living room or not. Do you want 11x17 poster, 50x75 painting, 8x11 photograph size?

It'll be a lot easier for the artists reading your request, if they know what size you're wanting.

It depends on what size the artist thinks is appropriate, I assume. I'm sorry for not having more specifics, I just know basically nothing about making art, and don't want to make crazy demands.

That, and I know how stifling the creative process can be with someone trying to dictate what the artist should or shouldn't do. I prefer to let others work, and strangely enough, I'm typically happy with what they produce.

I was going to write a long descriptive piece about the three characters, and let the artist draw them as s/he sees fit, except that she wanted it to be a "portrait-like" piece, as if the three of them were posing for a picture.

Hey, go ahead. An artist's gotta have something to work with...

What sort of size are we talking about, BTW? A4? A3?

Provisionally I'd say drawn, though I'm not very picky. She (Becky) does prefer the manga style of artwork, however. But again, both of us just appreciate good work, of any sort.

What sort of style are you looking for Lane? Painted? Drawn? 3d digital?

Sure! My girlfriend (long-suffering reader of my stories) said that she'd like a commissioned piece of three of my characters to hang in her apartment.

I was going to write a long descriptive piece about the three characters, and let the artist draw them as s/he sees fit, except that she wanted it to be a "portrait-like" piece, as if the three of them were posing for a picture.

I'd like to commission a piece; is there anyone who does good work that'd be willing to take my money?
