I see that Creative Guy Publishing is a member of the Speculative Literature Foundation's Co-op program. Are there any real benefits to joining?

Thanks

Hey Ed,

To be honest, I think there would be great benefit, but at this point the foundation seems kind of directionless -- no fault of their own, I htink they just don't get some of the funding that could really help them. They did sponsor some fellowship awards for writers, and to be honest, i'm not sure if those awards were awarded more than once. I'm as guilty as some of the other members for not being as invoved as I could be, but to be honest, I joined when the SLF was just founded, and I check in from time to time and don't see anything happening, so I'm not sure what the prurpose is.

I'd like to be involved in some of the small press associations and publishers guilds, but of course, many of those have pretty prohibitive membership fees. I'm in that awkward in-between stage of not having more money than enough to cover expenses and royalties, adn not enough ahead to be able to get more ahead. Funnily enough, that's about where I am in real life too. ;)

I understand. They are still offering the Fountain Award. Some AJM stories will be nominated. I just saw their Co-op program. It had an impressive list of members, but I had a feeling there wasn't a lot going on with it.

Believe me, I understand the financial end, both professional and personal. My wife screams everytime I put a little more into AJM, but I keep doing it anyway. I've been married 23 years and we have no children, so I just keep telling her I'm spending the kid's college tuition money.
