R. Schuyler Devin was kind enough to ask a few questions and post my answers as a part of his 6 Sided Q&A--- the entire interview is here.

He has kind things to say about my book, too, so give him a hit and check it out!

Ah, yes! Sturgeon's Law. Haven't heard that in a while. Did you ever hear about the novel Sturgeon wrote with Jean Shepherd as part of a hoax? Shep was a late night radio guy who later became the author of "A Christmas Story." One night on the air he suggested that best seller lists were meaningless and he told his listeners to go into their bookstores and ask for a book that didn't exist. "I, Libertine." Over the next weeks bookstore owners were calling up publishers asking where this book was. Shep had a friend at the NY Times put it on the NYT Best Seller List. The demand got so great, Ballanatine Books made a quick deal with Theodore Sturgeon and Jean Shepherd to write the damn thing. They did. You can find it occasionally on ebay.

Oh, BTW, nice interview.

Edit: I forgot to mention they came up with the pseudonym of Frederick R. Ewing, and used a goofed up photo of Shepherd on the back cover with a phony bio. This was in 1956, when hoaxes and practical jokes weren't considered in bad taste or politically incorrect.
