The question has been asked why don't we publish poetry? The answer: We're all a bunch of Phillistines! No really, none of us know anything about poetry. Now, your average post would end there, but as you know EDF is not about average.
Your editorial team has gone ahead and secured the domain
www.everydaypoets.com with an eye to expand. The site will feature a poem every day chosen by a yet-to-be-named editorial team.
It's the "yet-to-be-named" part that should interest you.
We're looking for a Managing Editor and Slush Master/Mistress for this new venture. If you step forward, here's what you'll get:
- Access to EDF's technological platform which should make website management easy even for the least techno-savvy among you. Basically we'll set the site up for you.
- You'll get a lot of cross promotion from the EDF site
- Huge exposure for your personal career (though publishing your own stuff is a no-no, your name really gets out there.)
- Startup costs will be covered for you
Just to be clear, this will be a labour of love. Even the staff at EDF draws no salary, and while we feel like there's a potential to at least break even, currently we ain't.
Your weekly time commitment is likely to be in the 2-5 hr range. I work on the site on my lunch hour, and that seems to be enough (of course, luckily, Camille does most of the work. Those Mai-Tais won't sip themselves!).
VIEW IMAGEThe ideal candidate will have a background in poetry and be committed to developing a magazine from the ground up. We envision a partnership, so good communication skills are a must.
