I'm happy to announce our winners of the 2008 Special Contest Issue. We had a lot of entries that stepped up to the challenge, and the people I'm about to name took a fine picture and collectively made it worth about 30,000 words!

So without further ado...

"The Song of Jaelyn" by Craig Comer
"A Maiden Drawn to the Sea" by Y.B. Cats
"Looking Through the Moon" by TW Williams
"Mantle of Darkness" by Wesley Lambert
"The Aspiranto" by Martin Turton
"The Fall of Fauk Toraum" by Timothy A Sayell
"A Father's Love" by Keith Gouveia

Thanks to everyone who sent their entries in, and congratulations to our winners!

This is one of the hardest contest's I've judged. Lots of excellent stories and it was very hard to choose the top 7.

Hey! That's me! I'm one of them names! Woo-hoo!

Well, first off, many thanks to the wise and wonderful trio of judges! Secondly, congrats to the other fine fellows who have also made it to the TOC! Good job guys! (Or should that be 'guys and girls'? You folks out there using initials always mess me up!)

"The Fall of Fauk Toraum" by Me (hey, whattaya know? I made it!)
With this story, I set out to write a heartwarming tale about a potentially-irradiated, post-apocalyptic, sword-slinging princess who makes an uneasy deal with an evil and ugly mutant villain for a cure she may not need and the safety of her people.
Well, okay, that's not quite how it started out, but that is more or less how it ended up. And whatever I did, I must have done it right! You like me, you really like me!

K, that's enough of that silliness. Thanx again to the judges; Mike, CW, and Johnney! I'm glad ya liked it, and I hope everyone else will, too!

I have no skeletons in my closet, they are all hanging from the yardarm.

Once there were three brothers, Brandrahoon the vampire, Isranon called the Dawnhand, speaker to spirits, and Waejonan the Accursed, first of sa’necari. Isranon defied his brothers and was destroyed, his descendants forced into the darkness.
