Now that was a great review. Struck the right balance between summary and analysis.

Congrats to FS # 10 for yet another great review, and cheers to Michael Ehart for impressing Mr. Butler!

I think Chris did a very good job on the review. A tad negative in places but that's a good thing, really. Everyone go read it then please, go visit the Fix forums and make comments.

Well, I appreciate a little negativity in a review. It makes the standouts really shine, and makes the review feel a more "legitimate".

I mean, you KNOW he liked the issue, because he's not shy of saying when something didn't work for him, and would have if he hadn't liked it.

Honestly, even if I weren't involved, this review would still make me want to read the anthology magazine. Can't ask for much more than that.

It is rough when you are the writer singled out for criticism, but he was pretty gentle even with those.

I thought the entire review of issue 10 was quite good. I certainly can't complain with what he wrote about mine. I was just happy to be included with so many talented authors.

Me too. Course, it's not an anthology, it's the current issue of FS ;)

I think Chris's review was excellent and useful to the authors. He has a sharp eye for story problems and assessing a story as the sum of its parts - and he says what he thinks, but gently.

Chris is also a fine writer and has had stories in Asimov's, Interzone and elsewhere. Check out his website
