The rabbit lord shrugs off your girly boiling water.

But yes, "Carnage" is my favorite so far. Emery's story definitely has that old-fashioned S&S tone to it. When writing I myself usually shy away from such a tone, trying for a more modern approach and more down-to-earth characters, but I love those larger-than-life characters and the gray (if not out-and-out dark) story climaxes.

(And you must realize that sooner or later I'm going to have to have a character known as "The Rabbit Lord.")

Not picking a favorite, as I still have a few to read, but I very much enjoyed Ty's Belgad story and I really, really, really liked James Enge's "The Red Worm's Way."

Also, Bill Ward's prose is shiny and wonderful -- he has a great way with words.

Good stuff so far!

Oh, and I've started work on "The Faceless Sons Meet the Rabbit Lord," a trilogy in six parts written in iambic pentameter and including a collection of small game recipes.

Just wait, Goble. There's another FS anthology coming up. I'm thinking The Rabbit Lord might just be fuzzy and a hundred feet tall!

(Actually, I do have an idea for a charecter called the Rabbit Lord, and he likely wouldn't be a very nice guy. Remember General Woundwort, anyone?)

I'm thinking that the Rabbit Lord should consider an appearance in the next Silly antho (the first of which is now available to buy from the Residential Aliens home page, btw) that Lyn and I do.

Ah, my copy of RotS arrived today. Just one day after my birthday. Excellent timing! I love it when a plan comes together. (there needs to be a cigar-chomping smiley to go along with that)

And I'm looking forward to the next silly antho. I have a couple stories that just might fit the bill.

Thanks!  I really like the look and layout of the book.  Hopefully my daughter will sleep a lot during this next week so I can get some reading done during the day.  smilewinkgrin    I'll be sure to post my thoughts as they come to me.

The small bit I've read so far of RotS has me looking forward to the next anthology, too.  I plan to have a couple of stories ready for you by then.  :-)

“The Wyrd of War,” by Bill Ward: One of my favorites in the anthology. I liked the evocative language, and the grim, epic nature of the plot.

*grin* Go Bill.

A very nice Review, Wes.

Made my day, Wes! Thanks a million.

I'm working on another Trav story. Tried to go back to his beginning, but I'm not sure I'm going anywhere with that. So I've moved toward the possibility of his being called to fight something big, bad, and toothy. ;-) Somewhere between Torkas Nahl and Shattersword Corps.
And another Galwa story - though he's a supporting character again. I'm really beginning to like this guy! This one is actually about a female fatefist working for Hippolyta. Interestingly enough, this puts Galwa at either being a hereditary name or title or puts him around 1500 years old at Tarkas Nahl. Very interesting. I'm not deciding right now . . . But then, Galwa would likely smile, shrug, and drink some tea. And maybe expound on some pet theory of reincarnation.

Read me soon in The Return of the Sword!

Thanks Paul - I'm eager to hear your thoughts of the whole thing once you do get a chance to read it.
~~
David - 'Big, bad, and toothy,' huh? Sounds like a tale of gargantuan proportions.
Would it be 'wrong' in the world of Tarkas Nahl for Galwa to be that old? If not, no prob. If so, perhaps a 'Galwa' is what a Fist who survives into old age becomes. Just thinking out loud here. Er, with my fingers, I guess.
