Have any of you read the Lure of the Basilisk written by Lawrence Watt-Evans? This is his first book the Lords of Dus series. Would anyone else consider this a sword and sorcery tale?

Steve, I did read this 4-book series when it originally came out in the early 80s. So, at the time, it did seem to me to be sword-and-sorcery. I notice that Fictionwise.com has the 4 books in ebook format, with excerpts. The hero is an Overman, which is described in the following excerpt:

"(The villagers) gawked at the size of his mount (five feet high at the shoulder and measured eighteen feet from nose to tail, its sleek-furred feline form...), at his own seven-foot stature, at the gleaming axe in his hand, at the dull armor that protected him and, incidentally, hid the black fur that was one of the major differences between his race and humanity. He could not hide his lack of facial hair, his lack of a nose, nor the hollow cheeks and narrow lips which all combined to give his visage, to human eyes, much the appearance of a red-eyed skull."

I'd recommend trying the 1st book, at least.
