Rob,

I certainly appreciate the hard work and time you've put into Ricasso Press and these anthologies. Too bad about the covers, but it's good that you can revise the files later. Thank you and Congratulations! I look forward to seeing the Ricasso Press website and the anthologies.

Appreciatively,

Today marks Day One of running to the mailbox looking for copies. Macy's is having a clearance sale, and my copy of Family Fun magazine has tips for Halloween. Oh, and the dentist sent me a reminder postcard for Monday's appointment. No copies, though.

On the plus side, I think I'll go to Macy's tomorrow.

Hi Rob!

As soon as you let us know the copies are ready I'll be sending for mine. I've even talked to my local library about starting a "Local Authors" shelf, though I guess that would limit the number of copies sold. Hopefully it may get a few more people interested in the work of us struggling and lesser-known authors.

*jumps around with excitement*

That's great!  I can't wait to see it and read everyone's stories!  I've been impressed with all the Lulu books I've seen (I even used them once for a collection of comics I put together for friends), so I'm sure the result will be good.

Rob,

Thank you for persevering! I can only imagine how tedious, frustrating, and aggravating the whole process has been. Lulu is easier to work with, I think, though not as profitable. I believe their quality is good, and as Jerry said, you might get a better deal in the future, and you'll have the product in hand to show people.

Appreciatively, Joy

I'm glad to hear that, and not just because one of my little stories will be in it.  Sticking to it and finding alternates to your original plan when people let you down shows real character, when it would have been easy to just throw up your hands and walk away from the project.

On the bright side, not only will you have a fine anthology out there, you should be able to use it as a reference the next time you shop around for a publisher and maybe get a better deal.  That is, if you aren't burnt out by now.

Looking forward to buying copies.

Well, progress was made, though not exactly what i wanted to do. The irony of it all is I was trying not to take this approach, but if I'd had, everything for Ricasso Press would have been on book shelves in about a week.

I already related my tale of woe with a local printer who I wanted to give some business, and he let me down. I then contacted an online printer with very good rates that, after two months, still hadn't provided me with a draft copy. Sigh.

So i went through Lulu. I had a very specific pricepoint in mind for my books, and using Lulu means I either change the price (not very likely) or run a lower return on investment. But it will have exposure through a site that's already set up. My own website will have other materials (such as e-books and perhaps audio versions) plus, of course, access to the Lulu bookstore.

In short, the printing work is done. I should have books in hand in a few days.

Thanks for the patience everyone.

Just as a little extra incentive, I've got a thumbnail of the BD,WD cover on my website (with a link to Ricasso, natch!), and for some reason Google has it as the second result if you search Google Images for "Black Dragon White Dragon."  I get a LOT of visits to my site from people searching for just that.  So there's a lot of interest out there for the anthology!

I can't wait to read the whole thing, myself. :)

Thanks, Rob, for posting. I'm really hoping this all works out--not only for the sake of my own little story, but because I've been anxiously awaiting Black Dragon, White Dragon and the Magistria books. The covers alone are attractive and intriguing enough, but thanks to the sneak peaks you've offered here, I know what's in store in terms of content. I'm pulling for you.

Thanks for the update, Rob. So does this mean the printer has it, or that you are going through the process all over again?

Thanks so much for not giving up. I'm sure it will be a great book when it comes out.

Hi all,

Sorry, I've spoken about this in other places, just not specifically here on this thread. Forgive my not thinking you would have attached email notifications to here and nowhere else.

My local printer basically defaulted on the project after me pouring tons of time and effort into giving a small businessman a shot. I am working with an online printer right now and will have copies in hand shortly ("shortly" is as accurate as I can be right now).

As clearly as I can say it, the project is not dead only woefully delayed. I understand when projects take long times to wrap up they tend to disappear. That is not the case here. Authors and prospective readers have been inhumanly patient, and I thank you for it. Where the light at the end of the tunnel turned out to be an oncoming train before, the light this time is an actual exit.
