Everyone here, be it readers or authors, are very creative so let's play a game. We'll all write a story together, one sentence at a time.

Here are the rules:

Sentences must be between 10 to 50 words long
each sentence must make at least a little sense.
Each sentence must tie into the previous sentence some how.

I'll post the first sentence, someone else will post the next one and so on. please read through all of the posts before adding yours so that you add it to the bottom.

Ready?

Ok first sentence:

The sun peeked up over the mountains and cast bits of scattered light on the forest below.

The scattering of the light being caused by the giant metal grate that surrounded all of Archenland, protecting it from outside wizardry.

A wizard dressed in a black and crimson robe approached the steel fortifications, raised his serpent shaped staff high, and shattered the night air with a soundless sapphire bolt which sliced a man-sized gate through Archenland's walls.

Continuing on its way into Archenland, the bolt impacted on the roof of a house not too far away from the arcane entrance it had created, setting the straw on fire.

This would have been quite fortunate for the one inside, if he were awake, because he drew his strength from fire, as the hand of a fire elemental had been grafted onto the stump of his right arm.

But Lefty, as he was called, was sound asleep as the thatch lit up.

There, I revived it!

Lefty's next door neighbor, Bruthilda, was awake however. She was up pacing the floor and worrying about some unpaid bills. The fire crackling on Lefty's thatch caught her attention as she passed by a window and she gasped!

"It's not my doing!" Lefty said, bolting out of bed and out onto his neatly swept porch. "Someone has corrupted the city's wall. A wizard, I'm sure. Look! I see arcane light still fizzling where his spell was cast."

None other than the flickering form of Pyrothite, elemental Archon of Scaldrous, the smoking stump of his right arm raised in challenge.

With a bright but chilling chuckle, Pyrothite turned his attention to Bruthilda. "But what of the woman? If you value her life, you will give me what I want."

Bruthilda brayed laughter. "One thing to claim something, another to actually fit the bill," said she, smiling whimsically. "It's not like you're dealing with a waif lost in the wild."

"Enough!" Nehronax, the wizard of black and crimson, shook his serpeant staff at the towering elemental. "I did not hurl thee 'gainst the walls of Archenland to bandy words with the likes of these -- we go at once to the Mausoleum of Dirj Rouraus!"

Pyrothite bowed his head. "I am in your thrall and must obey you, Nehronax," he said. "But I swear that you shall rue the day you bound me to your service."

Unseen by all, a small figure lurked quietly in the darkness nearby. It watched as the wizard dragged the elemental away on, took note as the others made an attempt to put out the flames then pulled a hood down over it's head and vanished into the darkness.

The others were unaware of the lurking spy until she passed through the newly cut entrance, its still-glowing steel walls reflecting upon the shiny red hood. "It's Redrideng Hood! Send the Gr'mather Wolf after her!"

Ah but the question is after what? Lefty pondered that as he watched several people running around shouting about the Gr'mather wolf then shook his head.
"This isn't getting anything acomplished!" he muttered. "My house is STILL on fire!"

"Actually," spoke the cloaked stranger as he stepped from the shadows, "your house is not on fire. That, Lefty, is not your house — and for that matter, it never was."

He turned to the cloaked stranger, a sneer of contempt twisting his lips. "Hold me or I'll kill this fool!" he bellowed.

The cloaked stranger put it's hood back, revealing a long snout, beady eyes and pointed fangs.

"Hold you?" He hissed. "What for?"

He lifted his arms above his head, claws gleeming in the light of the fire and took aim.
