Been interested in reading Ms. Butler for some time.

Any of her books stand out in your mind as better (or worse) than others?

I've only read Dawn, but it was pretty good.

The only ones I've read that I can recall are 'Mind of my Mind', 'Clay's Ark' and 'Patternmaster'. I must have liked them because I've kept them on my shelves for a re-read sometime, but it's so long since I read them that I don't recall anything about them.

The Xenogenesis trilogy is excellent.

I never spoke to her more than hello, something I regret deeply. She was an intimidating figure, very tall, and one of those folks where you could feel the waves of brilliance flowing from her. The local SF/F community was hit pretty hard by her sudden departure.

Potlatch 17, here in Seattle at the end of Feb. has selected Parable of the Sower as the Book of Honor this year. Good a place as any to start.

Wild Seed is great. The only other I've read is Patternmaster, and I enjoyed that as well. But I'd suggest starting with Wild Seed.

Sounds like it's hard to go wrong with much of her work. I'll see what the local library has of the ones you've mentioned.

Thanks for the feedback.

I've read Parable of the Sower and Xenogenesis. Both great stories.
