...some exciting releases.

Magistria II: Shards of the Goddess, the continuation of the Magistria shared world project in which I am proud to be involved.

The beginning of the Freehold Saga from Carnifex Press, another shared world being put together by Armand Rosamilia. I was invited to participate, but became overwhelmed by the complexity of his vision and realized it would involve too much commitment. Several other forum members are lending their considerable talent to this project, and I hope to be able to contribute to it in the future.

Of course, Sages and Swords. Like Lords of Swords, I'm waiting to purchase this antho after it has been sent to the big markets so that my purchase can (hopefully) have a more positive influence on future distribution. It's not easy being patient.

Is there something I've forgotten about? Please remind me of upcoming projects that have you all excited.

Hmm...there's not too much upcoming for me, although, like you, I'm anticipating the Sages & Swords release (I bought a couple of the early print run, though). I'm also going to be on a couple panels at OddCon here in Madison, which should be an interesting experience.

'05 was a great year for me--many publications, including my first book, and some contest wins--and I'm hoping that '06 will be equally prosperous.

Early 2006 I'm looking forward to the release of my novel from Mundania Press. But most of all I need to write and submit more, because I've been an undisciplined sloth as of late and I need to be more productive.

Well, so far '06 has a lot of things I want to read coming out from a lot of places, but only one with me in it for certain; _Bash Down the Door and Slice Open the Bad Guy_ should be coming out sometime ealy this year from Fantasist Enterprises. Like ajjones, I need to light a fire and finish more things to put out.

Well, I'm one of the people involved in the Freehold project that Rob mentioned (and list me among those saddened to see Rob step away) and there is going to be some pretty good sword-and-sorcery in that book, scheduled for release later this year. So I'm happy to be involved in that.

I also have a few stories coming in Flashing Swords, one of which is slated for spring. And a story coming in "Clash of Steel 3: Demon" from Carnifex Press. So I'm excited about that. And I have a couple of promising nibbles for other short fiction (You know, the "Your story made it past the slush editor and is now being considered for publication" kind of thing, plus a couple of submissions-by-invitation opportunities for which my fingers are numb from being crossed).

2005 was a good year for me and my fiction, and I'm going to try to make 2006 even better. I'm still trying to sell my first novel, and writing my second. I'm also hip-deep into a Calthus novella.

As for reading, Sages and Swords and the sequel to Lords of Swords top my list of must-reads. The novel-in -progress by Darkbow (a longtime friend of mine) also is waiting for me, and I'm looking forward to that. I'm also looking forward to future editions of Flashing Swords, and to all the stuff I get to read in the critique group ar SwordandSorcery.org. And there is a huge backlog of older stuff on my shelves, waiting for me to read it.

Geez, I'm going to be busy this year.

Upcoming stories: "The Grey Mother" and "The Bloated Curse," upcoming in Flashing Swords; "Zeerembuk," upcoming in "Clash of Steel 3: Demon" from Carnifex Press; "The Hungry Bottle," upcoming in Sword's Edge

Heck, I'm hoping the new e-mag from Baen makes a big splash. Not that I've sold anything to it, but hope springs eternal . . .

Hey, it's great to see Sages and Swords and Flashing Swords E-zine on so many people's lists of faves. I hope that '06 will be as kind and as hospitable to all of us as '05 and that we make great strides in bettering the SF genre and attracting more readers and writers to the fold.

I look forward to reading lots of great SF in '06 and publishing as much of it as I can.

And I hope Sages breaks out in a big way, so you can give some serious consideration to all those anthology ideas we talked about here on the boards. :)
