Just now, and actually for the past 24 months, I have been trying to finish two books by Thomas J. J. Altizer. The New Gospel of Christian Atheism and The New Apocalypse, the latter of which is the vision of William Blake explained... something the master himself said he would rather not do.

Why am I reading these? Because I think that speculative fiction could go to deeper, more horrifying depths if we writers could get our heads around the Death of God... and explore that much deeper the insidious workings of the black magic system into which we are all born.

Philip Pullman is already working with the death of Carlos Castaneda's 'mold of Man', when Adam and Eve kill it.

Let's see what we as spec-fic writers can do with the demise of the Eternal Return and the death of the Creative Force, will we?

I wasn't aware that we all were born into a black magic system or that God, if s/he existed could be "killed."
