Are you not registered CW? Cause I'm not and don't see a new thread button as well.

Maybe, as Dave said, it is a matter of getting permissions sorted. I'm registered and have no trouble with the new thread button to my forum. I have not looked around yet to see if 1) there are other forums yet 2) if there are, can I find the button on those.

Can we get another writer forum up there to compare?

There are no other forums.

I did some more tinkering; can you post now CW? I have a 'normal' user account and don't have any problems.

I've no idea why it works for other registered users, but not for you....

No. I still dont' see any way to post a reply or start a new thread in her account.

I tried with Firefox and with I.E.

Set my account to normal user instead of admin and let's see if I can see either of those links/buttons

Also, would you please start a second forum for me so I can see if things are different if I"m set as the forum owner rather than trying to post in someone else's forum?

I think that's a good idea, CW and kind of what I was asking for earlier.

Okay, in my forum on the new site, I have a lot more buttons (Crystalwizard is one word, Dave, not two)

I got a 'post to moderate' notice when Janrae posted in it, but there's nothing in the moderate queue. Can notices be turned off if there's nothing in the queue?

More forum permissions problems

I was able to post new threads in my forum, and then I was able to create a new thread in Janrae's.

However, when I posted the new thread, I first got a message that said 'you have posted in a moderated forum' and told me I'd have to wait for the moderator to approve the thread.

BUT

it posted the thread anyway. It didn't really queue it for her to moderate

HOWEVER

I know it sent her the message that there was something to be moderated, because it sent me one when she posted in mine and it did the same thing. Automatically approved the thread.

I have a dumb question. Are the author forums always moderated? It's better if the readers and such can start their own threads in them to ask questions and such.

They should only be moderated int he sense that you have permissions to edit/delete. Not supposed to hold or send notices..

Hey Dave - is there a links page or directory on the new site? I'm thinking of the old directory of course, and it might be easier now for people to add their sites.

I had a links up on the old SFReader, but keeping out the spam became overburdening. We can try it again with the new, with the caveat being that only registered members can submit links and see what happens.

Haven't found a decent links module.... you would think someone would have done one of those fairly quickly. I 'llresearch some more tomorrow.

Weird -- I'm surprised it's not part of the core. Let me know when it's up and I'll add a bunch to test...yeah, to test... that's it...

OK Pete

I found a links module and added it.

http://sfreader.com/SFRResources/tabid/100/Default.aspx

I have links going to an approval queue, so they won't show immediately after submitting. If I can figure out permissions, I'll add yo so your go in right away.

added a bunch of convention links and waited till Dave approved them. The links are working well but can the list be set up slightly different?

When I put the links in there were several categories to choose from. However they are all showing in one long list. Can the main resources page be links to those categories and then just the links in those categories show up on those category pages? Otherwise, I'm concerned that the list is going to get very very long and fairly chaotic and hard to find anything in.

Dave - I received 2 emails from the SFReader webmaster an hour ago telling me it was in reply to my request for an emailed password reminder.

I don't recall doing so but I probably did that night I could not get into the new SFReader, but either way, that was 2 or 3 or 4 days ago. Secondly, I can't log in. Not with my password, nor either of the 2 sent to me to use in the emails.

Any chance you can just void me and let me re-register? Or will that knock me out of the forum as well? Do you think my using the same username and password for both forum and reader posed a problem?

oh, and support questions. Do those Project wonderful ads on top generate any income for the site/you? And I'd love to do a blog and a wiki and a forum . . . . but I can't keep my own existing blogs up-to-date, wikis confuse me, and I ain't an author yet. I do turn in reviews, though I am behind on them. Speaking of reviews, is there any better way to search reviews by author than by first letter of last name? That seems a bit, well, retarded. My guess, after reading your response to CW regarding the list of conventions is that's the way it is though.

I do like the new site Dave, and it does load faster and appear nicer all around.

Suggestions: in the Most Recent section, can we please show or include in the titles of each article its date of posting? I read so much stuff online that I can't always remember titles, so I don't know which of those are new titles or ones I've read already. so it'd be a time saver and 2 less clicks. Also, where ever did the SFReader webring go?
