Here is a short list of nonfiction books anybody interested in piracy should maybe read:

The Buccaneers Of America by Alexander Exquemelin
A General History Of Pirates by Captain Charles Johnson
Under The Black Flag by David Cordingly

and... if you find yourself wanting to get at the very core of witchcraft (because maybe you are captivated by the 'Three Mothers' concept or somesuch other fiction device), read the following:

The Witch's Dream by Florinda Donner-Grau
The Art Of Dreaming by Carlos Castaneda
The Second Ring Of Power by Carlos Castaneda

Thanks for the recommendations. I wrote a novel featuring several witches in a medieval Italian setting. It was lots of fun.

Check out my story "Cold Snap" in Lords of Justice from Carnifex Press. It's an anthology of kick-ass super hero novellas.

Scourge of the Seas - Buccaneers, Pirates and Privateers by Angus Konstam. I bought that book last year and was very useful, and a very good read.
