Coffee-table sized, by multiple authors, this 2006 Barnes & Noble reprinted version includes modern maps along the lines of the Osprey military campaign series books; cool statistics, sidebar charts and info dumps; and lots of fitting photos and drawings. Twenty battles are covered in about 220 pages, all of it easily digestable.

I think I paid $14.99 for this - I haven't finished it yet, but I like it. An enjoyable read and easy to set down and pick up and start in again at will. Definitely a decent, if not in depth, reference work.

B&N's 'sale' section is what kills me, its full of these reduced price reprints, and i just can't say no.

I love osprey style maps and diagrams, they really bring battles to life, invaluable for a writer who doesn't have a degree from West Point!

You do realise that there is no non-fiction book that a writer of SF/F?H can't claim to be some sort of research?

So just claim it all as a tax deductable business expense. I already do that with every book I buy because I claim to be gathering inventory for a book selling business that may or may not happen in the next five years, which is how long they will let you legally claim expenses toward a planned business.

Cool! I made the mistake of setting mine down and now it's buried on the desk and I've read about 6 other books since I started it. I'll get back to it, though, and I know exactly which pile it's in if I need it. I think lol
