We've accepted our first story and added our first author to the antho's TOC! (We'll tell you who soon!) - So things are starting to pick up steam, a number a new subs already in. But we need more! So dig around, dig it up, dust it off, or just make it up and submit your story before March 1st, but make sure it's funny and has us laughing out loud.

I was going to send one reprint...but realized it was too short. I may have another to submit before the deadline, though.

Jeff, go ahead and send in your reprint - nothing is too short if it's too funny!

Oh, and btw, CONGRATS to Jeff Parish on being the first to make the Silly Fantasy Antho's TOC - his story "A Royal Pain" is a fun and funny little romp around the castle. CW and I are looking forward to seeing it in print (and seeing a lot more subs from writers on this board!).

Horribly late on the play, but this sounds like a lot of fun. I've been looking for inspiration, and this is very different from the usual for me. Submissions open until March 1, you say?

Yes, Corvus - and you can watch the TOC progress at this thread:
forum.sfreader.com/default~f~24~m~65058.html
Looking forward to seeing you join the fun.

BTW - CW & I have seen the light (it might have been a near-death experience) and we're going to open the antho to silly sci-fi as well. Watch for the announcement. And we'll soon have a "name the antho" contest to capture the essence of all this funny business.

The only title I can think of right now might be just slightly in bad taste... It's "The Unicorn's Toiletside Companion" or "The Bug-Eyed-Monster's Hypertoilet-side Companion" depending on the final split between SF and Fantassy. I will try to think of something better for the contest!

HUGE UPDATE # ∞ (or so it seems) eyes

CyberAliens has seen the light! And we froze like a Rigelian deer until - smack! - it hit us that our silly fantasy antho was just too dang limiting for all you great writers. You needed to express yourselves! You needed room to experiment! You needed space...Yeah, that's it, you needed...Space!

And so we give you the final frontier! (Think of it as a loan, really, since we're not sure who it belongs to.) The Silly Fantasy Antho has now officially opened it's doors to Silly Sci-Fi as well. Launch the freedom rockets! Open a bottle of Betelgeusian Champaign! And let the space race begin!

Continue to follow the guidelines at the top of this thread. And watch for TOC updates here. And sub sub sub!

(Note: This post has been cross-posted all over the place, so if it sounds familiar...) smilewinkgrin

The Silly Fantasy/Sci Fi Antho is getting more ridiculous by the minute. We’ve had some great subs so far, and now we’re opening the floodgates…

…and Announcing a “Finish this Limerick” Contest!

So what if you're stumped by submitting a super silly story! Who cares if you can't fabricate a funny flash fiction when facing a deadline? What does it matter if your hilarious humor has hit a horrible hurdle?! (Is anyone else aware of all the alliteration occurring?!)

Well, we have the solution! (And a lot of exclamation marks to use up!) CyberAliens (you see, Cyberwizard and ResAliens have teamed up...oh, we'll explain later) is soliciting silly limericks for inclusion in our upcoming antho.

All you have to do is finish what we've started (see opening lines below) or come up with your own! The best ones find a home in the antho to be published April 1 (no foolin’). Keep us in stitches. Keep us roaring in laughter. And keep it PG-13 or cleaner.

Want some ideas?

There was an old king on a throne
A flighty young fairy named Styxx
A crazy old wizard in black
A dragon did spy a young knight
The Prince and the Princess went out
A noble, who nobody liked
A fairy, a sprite and a flower
The castle it was quite a sight
There once was a pretty young thing
A knight on the back of a horse
A tourney to honor the king
A wizard in colorful robes
One day in the middle of May
Five pigs and a young dashing lad

Want some inspiration? Here’s a silly example; surely you can do better!
CyberAliens said...

A flighty young fairy named Styxx
Used magic to turn guys to chicks.
The dust was expired;
The magic backfired!
And left her in some kind of fix.

So send your best (multiples welcome) to sillyfantasy @ gmail . com and sub sub sub!!!
(Ah, finally, we're all out of exclamation marks.)

In a posting situation
re: use of exclamation,
you should always beware
they should be used with a care
Not the rule, but an exception!!!!

.....................

OK, I'm going to have a go at some fantasy SF ones.

You might also consider reprinting some classic silliness with public domain rights and / or posting on Ralan to complete the ToC. I'm REALLY looking forward to reading this one (some of my favorite authors include Douglas Adams, Robert Asprin and Terry Pratchett, and I've read all the Xanth books, so it ought ot be right up my alley!!).
