Sorry to hear that, but at least they let you know. I recently got a reply to a query on a sub that had been out for ten months, saying the project was cancelled. I've been on the other end of that so I know its a tough thing both ways . . .

I'm still waiting to hear from Serpentarius, hope never fades. I just hope they have a killer launch and stick around for a while.

And I've queried, but it sounds like they are just swamped and wading through. Patience is the key.

I sent Serpentarius a query on February 2nd inquiring about the status of my submission sent on December 3rd, and haven't received a response yet.

It seems like they have quite a bit of slush to wade through.  Maybe they need a snow shovel! lol

What I hate the most is when they don't say anything at all.  Although, it is easier to take a long wait if the answer is eventually yes.

I forget what story I sent, but it was a trunk story because all my A list tales in that word range were already out. Got a rejection of course, but they noted they really liked my style and to keep submitting, so that was nice. The rejection was quite awhile ago, so don't take that as a sign they are active at the moment (I have no idea).

Edit: I shouldn't say "trunk story", more like a B list story.

Well, I submitted a story on 12/09/07 and go the same automated acknowledgment as above. Still haven't heard anything back. I thought I waited well past the five weeks and then sent a request for status but couldn't find anything in my 'sent' or 'writing' folder. Anyhow, I sent another request for status to them today. It's been almost 4 months so we'll see what happens.

I hope I get word soon because this is a story that I originally intended to submit elsewhere but they were closed for subs. Now that market is about to open back up.

I was actually going to ask if anyone heard from Serpentarius recently.  I haven't heard back regarding my query sent February 2nd regarding a poem submitted to them on December 3rd.

As I said earlier, no reply at all is the worst.  I've seen a few markets like that (mostly literary) - no reply if it's a rejection.  Some state that they don't reply to rejections in their guidelines, while with others you just have to make that assumption.

Crazy, I tell you, crazy! freaked

Well I sent them a story on 12/2/07, I first queried on 1/20/08, the five weeks they call for having passed. I sent them a second query, with no reply to my first, on 4/2/08. We'll see.
Note that I know they are swamped, and the first issue looked very good. They pay very well. I'll wait them out and hope for a reply to my queries before their second issue.
I just hope they have a second issue, and a third, and so forth. I can't break into a market that doesn't last long enough for me to show them more than one story, at least not often. I will query again in June, or after the second issue has been out more than a week. I just hope they make it that far.

I also queried, since I was waiting since the beginning of December, and received no answer. I sent an e-mail withdrawing my story recently and got a reply to that one in which they acknowledge my withdrawal. I'm not sure what's going on with this market but that's the bit of info I have to share.

I subbed to Serpentarius in November 2007, queried at the end of January 2008 per their guidelines, got no response. At this point I am wondering if they are a dead market. Does anyone have any insight into this?

None what-so-ever. There have been no postings or activity on their site since shortly after the first issue came out, as far as I can tell, and the enigmatic N. E. Dix hasn't replied to many queries. Didn't someone say she aknowledged a withdraw recently? That would be the first anyone I know of has heard from her for a while, if that was recent.
But oh how I hope its going okay.

Might be another Noctem Aeternus. I hope not, but at this point it's difficult to discern their profit model.

Duotrope reports the last response received on 16 December.

Apparently 25% of their submissions have been withdrawn by the author with another 12.5% being "assumed rejections" (ie no word received). Those are pretty rough numbers.

I understand things taking a while to respond to each author when you've got a staff of one or two. What makes me scratch my head the most is the lack of movement on their site. You'd think a new market would want to provide general updates or something in this world of hyper-interactivity.

What happened with Sniplets? I've heard of folks having their stories accepted by them, and Duo shows their most recent activity at March 25th, 2008.

I've had something with them since late November and my multiple queries have gone unanswered. I haven't quite grown impatient enough to withdraw yet. Every time I try to download the first issue, Acrobat gives me an error message and it can't display the document, so maybe I should take that as a sign that it's time to move onto a market where I can actually read the material they're publishing.
