Hi, my name is Dave Steiner, and I am working on a new project that I think will be pretty unique. Together with three other writers, I am putting together a blog-structured website that will be a continuous collaborative works project. I'm keen to get some opinions on the site, the concept, and the material already up on the site (it's still bare right now), so please have a look: www.viyalaproject.com

Thanks

Cool idea. We used to do that with a couple of friends (although mainly for our own entertainment, not for public dispersal). The main problem we found was that one of us would write the character (Kopulus) into a corner in brilliat cliffhanger tradition and the next writer would inevitably write the words "Kopulus died. How sad."

Hope your writers are less irritating and welcome to the forum.

Hi, David.  Welcome to SFReader!  I'm going to have a look at your project right now.

EDIT:  So you still don't have much, but I like the idea.  Good luck!

We're working diligently to start putting up some actual writing. It's been in the planning stages for quite some time. We just need to sit down and start adding some substantial content. We're also trying to work out a schedule of postings, so we can keep readers coming back as often as possible to view new material.

Thanks for viewing, though, and I hope you all enjoy the story, and leave feedback if you do.

Welcome to the forum, Dave. I hope your project takes off, but that it doesn't keep you so busy that you wind up with no time to check in here.

Will it remain just the four of you, or do you think you'll ever open it up to other people to join in?

Crystalwizard,

There is a possibility we could open it up to other writers, but I think for now that we will keep it small because we don't want to have to bring too many people up to speed on what we're doing. If someone comes along that truly impresses us with the desire or writing style, then we very well could bring them on.

Welcome, Dave. Shared-world writing can be lots of fun when you find like-minded individuals. I am fortunate enough to have two such kindred spirits, Frederic Durbin and Gabe Dybing, with whom I've been collaborating on a project for about eight years now.
