I'm new to this forum, but I already know some of you directly and indirectly. (I often lurk in the other Black Gate forum and on occasion visit the various Double-Edge Publishing forums - usually via The Sword Review).
I mostly write high fantasy, though in shorter form it tends to lean more towards adventure fantasy, and I had a series published in The Sword Review last year. Currently, I'm working on a short science fiction story.
As far as what I read, I also tend to stick to the shorter fiction. Novels become too engaging, and then I end up not writing as much. I like being able to finish reading a tale within an hour or two at most. I carry subscriptions to both Black Gate and Fantasy and Science Fiction at the moment, and I'm considering picking up one of the smaller market magazines just to get something a little off the beaten path that publishes some good stuff. Generally, I go for adventure-oriented fun stories, not so much political, internal conflict type stories, though I will always prefer good writing over a specific story type (which led me to enjoying everything from Naruto to Veronica Mars).
I will probably lurk more than post here, but I thought I'd at least introduce myself, so that on that rare occasion where I feel like sharing something, you'll at least know who I am.

Welcome to the boards! Might I suggest Fictitious Force and All Possible Worlds? APW's debut issue didn't have any really adventure-oriented stories, but most of them were fun tales rather than introspective stuff, and I can definitely see action/adventure appearing between their pages.

Hi Matt,
Just an FYI:
Look at the top of any post you've made and you'll see several icons. One looks like a red X. That's delete. Careful with that one, there's no way to undelete a post if you didn't mean to. One other icon looks like a pencil, that'll let you edit your post.
I'll be sure to use the delete and edit in the future (carefully, of course). Thanks.
