No. Not fiction thieves who steal works of fiction claiming them as abandoned because they haven't been registered with the Copyright office.

What are the best markets currently seeking pirate adventure fiction?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't think anyone is actively seeking pirate fiction right now. Shimmer had a pirate anthology last year. Is it in a historical setting? If so, maybe Paradox or Tales of Moreauvia could take it. Is it a secondary world? Beneath Ceaseless Skies might be interested.

Not precisely pitate fiction, just has pirates involved.
I might go for Abandoned Towers, but the MC protag is an evangelist (though he is portrayed in such a manner that one could read him as a crackpot).
Thing is, he's now a serial character, as is the Supporting mC, who definitely is a pirate captain of sorts. I'm working on serials with both characters, and they are both featured in three stories I currently have ready for market. And I'm working on the follow-up to each.

Shiver me timbers! What about Pirates magazine? I don't know if they take adventure fiction, but it might be worth a look.

I like Pirate books, but I can't seem to find enough of the really good ones. I like a historical type novel that is so historically accurate that I can often think about the book after I have finished it. I sometimes put myself into the shoes of the characters and day- dream about what would I do if I were in that situation? Would I start my own shipping company if I were living in 1699 Boston? Would I trade with the islands, or with London? And so it goes.

So, I would say that a good Pirate novel would tie itself to enough specific area history to become a historical-fiction novel. One must be careful here, because failure to put enough time-sensitive history into it would result in it falling between the cracks into bad-fantasy or romance, or something else. One would not want to mention the characters talking to Francis Drake in 1599, for example.

"Log Cabin Noble" is one of my favorites, and it deals like this, so it is historical fiction. There are many romance books with Pirate themes, but they are something else entirely. History first, romance second; that is what I like in a pirate novel...Just MHO. turn
