Here's goes:  Is it acceptable and/or permissable for a blog to use text from a story in a promotional capacity--for a project containing that story--without citing the author of the text?

Using text from a story as part of a blurb, etc. without using quotation marks or citing the work or author from which it came?

Thanks in advance for opinions and input.

When in doubt, it has always been my policy to cite. There's just no downside to that.

It's kind of cheesy, acceptable or not, not to cite.

It's always best to cite it. In this case, it's actually better advertising/marketing to advertise it since it is part of the product being highlighted.
If it were from something outside of the project being plugged, I would insist on citation as a matter of professionalism if not strictly of copyright.

I wouldn't use it without a citation. I'd definitely say err on the side of giving credit where credit is due.
