Help me build a list: I'm looking for books that feature peopel transported or transferred from earth to a fantasy setting.

  1. Guardians of the Flame series by Joel Rosenburg - pretty rough stuff as far as the writing goes, but I enjoyed them
  2. Quag Keep and Return to Quag Keep (although in these books, the characters can't really recall they are from earth)
  3. Gor books by John Norman - no real 'magic' here, although the advanced technology of the priest kings sometimes fill that void
  4. John Carter of Mars - again, technology replaces magic
  5. Thomas Covenant books by Stephen R. Donaldson
  6. Mordant's Need duology by Thomas Covenant (never read these)
  7. Stairway to Forever by Robert Adams (only 2 book finished because he died)
Any more?

The vast majority of the Narnia books by C.S Lewis involve transportation into a fantasy world (the only exception being The Horse and His Boy) and I'm reasonably sure that Alan Garner's Elidor has some transference between worlds as well.

H Beam Piper's Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen/ Gunpower God might sort of fall into the same category, although it is a parallell world (much less technologically developed than our own) rather than a fantasy world per se that the title character finds himself in.

Ones that spring to mind are "Mythago Wood" by Robert Holdstock and Diana Wynn Jones' "Deep Secret" - part of which is set in at convention with very funny scenes. She is a superb writer anyhow...

All the books of Madeline L'Engle's "Wrinkle in Time" series involve transportation to a fantastical realm, with the exception of the third(and IMO, best) book, A Swiftly Tilting Planet.

And there's Book 12 of Piers Anthony's Xanth series, Man From Mundania.

John Norman's GOR books with Tarl Cabot featured (in the early part of the series) a guy dragged off of earth to some where else.

Rick Cook's books feature Wiz, a computer programer, who is sucked into a fantasy world. The first one of his and the first one of my accidentally have the same title, Wizard's Bane.

Some lesser-known (but good) ones:

Joy Chant: 'Red Moon and Black Mountain'

R A MacAvoy: 'The Book of Kells'

Alex Comfort: 'Tetrarch'

Sheri Tepper: 'The Marianne Trilogy' (the heroine keeps popping in and out...)

and who could forget the wonderful "Incompleat Enchanter" series by L Sprague de Camp?

There's also Brian Daley's 'The Starfollowers of Coramonde' and its sequel, 'The Doomfarers of Coramonde'. Highly recommended fantasy adventures with laugh-out-loud humour.

Greg Bear's 'The Infinity Concerto' and its sequel 'The Serpent Mage'.

'The Gandalara Cycle', a trilogy by Garrett and Heydron: effectively an updated version of ERB's 'Carter on Mars' scenario.

I think I'm running out out of ideas, but I'll keep perusing my collection...

"Lisey's Story" by Stephen King. Albeit the fantasy episode is short & most of the book is set in the here and now - it is a pivotal part of the plot. And the book is a masterpiece...

The Albion Trilogy by Stephen Lawhead

The Harry Potter books! (How could we all forget those? Oversaturation, maybe, like how after a while you forget that your refrigerator is making a constant hum, just blocking it out...)

There's a lot of these, where an earthman is transported to a fantasy world. Pretty much all Sword & Planet fits this mold, and that would include:

Dray Prescot series by Alan Burt Akers (Kenneth Bulmer)
Almuric by Robert E. Howard
The Venus series by ERB
Green Star and Callisto series by Lin Carter
World of Tiers series by Philip Jose Farmer
My own Taleran series (Charles Gramlich)
The Llarn series by Gardner Fox
The Blade series by Jeffrey Lord (featuring many planets)
Both a Mars and a Venus series by Otis Adelbert Kline
Gullivar of Mars by Edwin Arnold
Chieftain of Andor and Ardor on Aros by Andrew Offutt
War Gamers World series by Hugh Walker
the Mars trilogy featuring Michael Kane, by Michael Moorcock (originally published under the name Edward P. Bradbury)
Pursuit on Ganymed and The Goddess of Ganymede by Michael Resnick
The Kaldar stories by Edmond Hamilton

Those are ones that come off the top of my head. I know there are more but I'd need to go through my collection to make sure.

Then there's that one by Lawrence Watt-Evans that I still can't remember the title of, but I totally hated it. Sorry, LW.

Here are a couple I didn't spot on the lists.

Maximillion Quest in the book Phoenix prime by Ted white

The entire population of the Earth as well as a couple of aliens in Farmer’s Riverworld series

I have read so many, including quite a few of the ones already listed. I am sure there are many more.

Most of Leigh Brackett's books, but especially the Eric John Stark novels.

Michael Moorcock's City of the Beast. Warrior of Mars series.

The first Witch World book by Andre Norton.

Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.
http://www.dianagabaldon.com/

And many of Ken Bulmer's novels, apart from the Dray prescott Scorpio/Kregan series he wrote as Alan Burt Akers. (Which are just as good as any of the ERB Mars or Venus books.)
