http://www.sfreader.com/authorpics/cww1.jpg

Image is there and displays fine. Suggest you double check the url you are for the image

Per instructions at the bottom of the page, if I upload an image called 123.jpg, the url for that image ends up being:
http://www.sfreader.com/authorpics/123.jpg

I can see the image just fine as well Ed. Make sure your browser isn't blocking images or something if you've got the URL correct per Dave's instructions.

HUH? There is no image there. You may be confusing the Ray gun revival cover with the CWW1.jpeg file I tried to add. The CWW1 image is a b/w image that has three cats on it- which of course I have no way to show you unless you send me an e-mail to send it to you.
CWW1 uploaded but when I try to insert it all I got was a small box with an X so I deleted
it- this time I will leave it so you can see.

Ed, here is the image I saw before AND the image I still see now:

Here is the URL where that image is at:

http://www.sfreader.com/authorpics/cww1.jpg

Is that not the image you are trying to upload?

The image you uploaded is available on the server and is located at
http://www.sfreader.com/authorpics/cww1.jpg

THAT is the URL you need to use when inserting the image into your web page.

Well now I am truly stumped. On both my work computer (part of a big corp and totally separate from my home pc)
and home when I look at the image all I see is a tiny box with an x in it. There is no image. I used the exact language for the insertion point
Dave as it is on the bottom of the page so I clip- paste and then add CWW1.jpeg and no image appears.

Sorry to be your problem child and doubtless you are tired of this but I want to get this to where I can manage it and use my page properly
and every time I try to upload any image I am forestalled which makes using my page as my online resume an exercise in frustration. CWW1 is on the server at your end
I do not know why I cannot see it. But I am optimistic we are honing in on it. Perhaps it has to do with the dark matter between my ears.
I am sure if either of you was here with me it would take you 3 seconds of computer magic to do it.

Ed, please past this exact url into your browser and see if the image comes up:

http://www.sfreader.com/authorpics/cww1.jpg

Notice that nothing in that URL is capitalized.

You keep saying that the image name is CWW1.jpg, but in the url, it's cww1.jpg.

Please copy, from the http:// all the way to the .jpg, and paste that into your browsers's URL field, hit return and then tell me if you can see the image.

I am begining to get a little case-sensitive myself

Eureka you have done it. jumpin Thank you both. Can't believe it was this flaming simple (I'll save all my cussing for off line)

I'll go look about the FAQ but is there an upper limit on size that accounted for my inability to post the orginal image which evidently was larger than Windows explorer said it was? With infraview I can size the damn things correctly and should not hit that barrier. Though it would have been nice if the barrier had said, "Hey dummy the file is too big" as oppossed to the blither at the top of this long agonizing thread.
Thanks for your patience. I'll go back to writing now
Wish I could buy you both a beer or something. Maybe if we ever meet at a con

:) you're welcome and I'm glad it's working. Never trust windows. It's best to always run an image through something like Infraview. And since you have that, I suggest you stick with it.
