It turns out Akismet was just sitting on its thumbs, waiting for me to notice it... So I've plugged it in, and so far so good.

Backups? Riiight. Thanks for the reminder that it's been awhile.

Wordpress has a plugin called Spam Karma, I think.

That's what backups are for. And never write over a previous backup with a new one.

I've had a blog up and running for a while now, but still haven't figured out how to plug in a spam filter that would do the job. I'm getting seriously tired of wading through 100-200 spam comments for the occasional legitmate one.

I'm looking for the kind where the commenter is prompted to type a code of letters as shown in a box. I use wordpress, in case that makes a difference.
