It's a shame to lose him at that age, and my prayers go out to his family. He's one of my favorites.

This is terrible news, I really enjoyed his books and esp. his attitude as a person and toward writing. He seemed to me a real figther.

Wow. That was unexpected. I don't think there's anyone out there right now who can aspire to fill Gemmell's shoes. I spent many a fond hour with his books and it saddnes me to knwo there will be no more coming.

I am actually stunned by this... one of my favorite writers of fantasy and too young to die.

I stunned as well. Wow. It was mostly do to Armands constant compliments that I was going to get my first Gem book. I was however, quite aware, what a dominant figure he was. Wow.

I have to wonder (given publication schedules vs. writing speed) if you won't see some post Gemmel books put out in a little while.

Stunning news.

Tarantino himself has been forward and unapologetic about his influences. In a 1994 interview with Empire magazine, he said, "I steal from every single movie ever made. If people don't like that, then tough tills, don't go and see it, all right? I steal from everything. Great artists steal, they don't do homages."

I know he has another Troy book scheduled for a September release... even though he has 30 books published, it still seems like there was so much more for him to do, especially in his ongoing series of books.

I realy got into his work over the last couple of years and have read every book released, and he was one of my favorites. I hope there were other books ready for print, although I assume that is wishful thinking...

Maybe he had a son, who can write sub-par sequels and prequels like every other great writer, lol...

Gemmel was a regular guy with balls. I liked some of hsi work. we are lesser in his passing.

Apparantley Gemmell died in front of the word processor...I think that's very fitting for a man who wrote about heroes who never gave up.
